Yes, thank God for the eclipse. It was a divine respite from the pervasive anger, fear, hysteria and myopia of Trump’s America. The eclipse not only overshadowed Trump, but made most of us actually forget about him for a brief while. Trolling Instagram more than the newswire, I thrilled in the endless number of photos. In gratitude, here are a few of my favorites.
What I liked about Lori Waselchuk’s photo is how much it looks like America. Also, that graphic on the t-shirt is beautiful.
I liked David Butow’s shot because of its hint of Andrew Wyeth.
I hope I’m not contradicting myself here about the Trump respite, but the photo was unavoidable. It seems everybody in the sphere saw the fantastically telling photo of Trump looking directly at the sun. Well, here’s to Getty’s Mark Wilson for this one. We call it cockeyed.
This was taken in Oregon by Randy Olson on the morning of the eclipse. I like it because, well, there’s the sun, there’s the sun, there’s the sun.
Finally, with disks and circles the rule of the day, I liked this shot by Mary Eaton because it made me laugh out loud.
