Trump vs the Khans in 3 Pairs of Pictures

If you’re following the presidential campaign at all, you know Donald Trump has got himself into an insane fight with Khizr Khan and his wife Ghazala, the parent of a Muslim-American soldier killed in Iraq. If Trump’s words are beyond offensive, the corollary pictures it conjures are just as outrageous and hypocritical.

If he lashed out at Ghazala for standing silently by her husband while he addressed the Democratic Convention, it’s hard to see the difference between the image above and the one just below it. (Unless one is reiterating Mrs. Khan’s substance, her role in drafting the speech and the fact her grief prevented her from addressing the convention in the presence of her son’s image.)

More cynically, it makes us wonder how much Trump even distinguishes between one public presentation of family, and another. He clearly believes that the images of the Khan family with their son were self-serving.

With the exception of the images from the convention, the firestorm over Trump’s attack has largely played out in words.  That includes the contrast being drawn between Trump’s dodging of the draft during the Vietnam War and Humayun Khan’s ultimate sacrifice. This pair of images notably reflects Khizr Khan asking if Trump had ever even visited Arlington Cemetery.

Just as notable is the pairing of Donald Trump in a high school uniform, the sign indicating the closest he ever came to boots on the ground.
