In our Twitter/Instagram round up this week, the campaign continues to dominate. More specifically, we mean the oddities of the steamrolling Trump campaign. We continued to call out winning work from the major photo contests. This week, we highlighted a photo from Syria by Abd Doumany and an image by Chicago photographer E. Jason Wambsgans (larger version with caption) honored by Picture of the Year. Each brings greater deeper and context to scenes we have tragically seen many times over. Finally, we were interested in the visual juxtaposition of two different stories on the NYT mobile site, one about a US airstrike in Somalia and the other, showcasing a sumptuous photo of the cast of “Downton Abbey.” In retweeting, @ClickErik’s response was just perfect: “Consequence of Empire.”
