Sure, the practice is loose when it comes to matching photos to news stories. At the same time, you’d think the raft of coverage of the botched execution in Oklahoma would be illustrated by images of the death chamber where the mess actually happened. Instead, visuals attached to a collection of stories about the debacle seem like a grab bag of U.S. killing sites. It does make me wonder if the randomness is reflective of how little we want to see, understand and take responsibility for this brand of extermination.

… Or maybe it’s just state pride.
