The Hacking Scandal: Shoe on the Other Foot

Rebekah Brooks, the CEO of Rupert Murdoch’s all-powerful News International is currently caught at the center of a far-, wide- and high-reaching scandal boiling over now with reports the News of the World spent six months hacking the voicemail of a missing girl who eventually turned up dead, and allegedly hacked the voicemail of servicemen killed in Afghanistan.

Given the dirt, this photo — captured at the recent Wimbledon championships –is just about perfect. On top of the furtive look, the picture captures the News Corp’s surveillance addiction by surveilling the CEO herself.

Prime Minister David Cameron condemned on July 5, 2011 the alleged hacking of a murdered schoolgirl’s voicemail by the News of the World, part of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire, as the scandal closed in on a top executive and Murdoch protegee. Among those facing new questions about their conduct is Rebekah Brooks, now head of News Corp’s UK newspaper arm and editor of the newspaper at the time of the teenager’s death.
