Inspired by the ’86 bombing of Libya, it keeps popping up in news vids and in the background of news photos, but the two-and-a-half decade old statue outside Gaddafi’s compound depicting a fist crushing a U.S. fighter plane could be the world’s poster child for irony right now. I like the scale here, though from this screen grab, it seems a lot more golden and shiny.
By the way, this piece of shrapnel collected from Gaddafi’s compound last night offers a fitting companion, if not a down payment.
