What makes Carolyn Cole’s image so effective in capturing yesterday’s enormous protest in Tahrir Square is that it not only captures the density of the throng but — simultaneously a photo and a graphic — it represents the singular, purposeful and resounding reply by this collective body in response to Mubarak’s televised proposal, saying simply: “Leave.”
