In a post at NPR’s The Picture Show, nature photographer Florian Schulz offers his thoughts and images of the Western Arctic and the Prudhoe Bay oil fields. Schulz also considers the impact of a disaster, similar to the one in the Gulf of Mexico, in a setting relatively hidden from public view.
The photo, of a grizzly bear foraging for food, is indicative of how nature and industry are already colliding at the Prudhoe Bay oil field.
