Most of the day, we have been tweeting about visual censorship and the impeachment trial media blackout. In that gap, court artists have been stepping up, including Arthur Lien, an artist who typically covers the Supreme Court. He has been capturing Trump’s Senate trial for the NY Times. I found this particular drawing both shocking and depressing. Above all, it reveals how masterfully this constitutional process has been neutralized. According to Lien, yesterday’s visitor’s gallery was not even full.
