This photo has circulated widely. We imagine, because of the way in separates gun violence from hysteria surrounding immigration and Islam. #nationalwalkoutday #domesticterrorism Shannon Stapleton/@reuterspictures #GunReform pic.twitter.com/Knt3FscywL

Visually, this was a week of large gestures, and demonstrations of all kinds. The student movement for gun reform kept up the political momentum in a big way with their 17 minute national school walkout. At the White House, the president was in the midst of what could legitimately be called a personnel and policy rampage. With an impulsive Trump tightening his singular control over the Presidency, basically doing every job, new policies (import tariffs, a Trump-Un mano a mano summit) and new firing and hirings dominated the news. (So long to Rex, who will not be missed at the limping State Department, either. But watch out for the Trump-like Pompeo.) And for a touch of class, we note the passing of the brilliant Stephen Hawking.

No surprise ATL HS brings #race into equation by evoking #TakeAKnee. #StonemanDouglas kids, in particular, have been adamant gun scourge not any way equal, and goes way beyond school. #nationalwalkoutday https://t.co/Ys1JMN3ycu pic.twitter.com/DVvGHpbOF1

Considering the 7k pairs of shoes in front of the Capitol-one for every child killed by #guns since Sandy Hook. Timing-wise, as much as an act of conscience, or shaming, it anticipates the #midterms as a true reckoning. https://t.co/zMMDFmArpc

There are practical reasons for shooting those massive #borderwall prototypes from ground level. Need it even be said, though, what makes the portrait is his edifice complex. @Lamarquephotog @reuterspictures #ego #mania #sandiego pic.twitter.com/mc7J7DDRFU
