Taken two weeks ago in Malaysia, the photo shows Obama hugging a Rohingya girl who fled the violence in Myanmar. In his remarks, the president stressed how much the persecution is ethnic and directed at Muslims.
We can argue about this administration’s actual vigor and follow through when it comes to resettling refugees. On America’s Thanksgiving, however, amidst the hard-hearted sentiments from the campaign trail, it’s worth appreciating the president’s moral bearings when it comes to the worldwide crisis.
