Ultimately politics — as a competitive exercise, anyway — is all about ego. It’s about who’s on top, who’s on the bottom, and how much submission was achieved. (Or, on this not-unrelated new cover, how much was spooned.)
With the waking of the Russian bear, and with the first stirrings of the US presidential season, too, Russian Esquire hits a home run in remixing its metaphors. If the parallel between Romney and Dirty Harry proved laughable — Eastwood casting himself as Mitt’s proxy at the RNC, assuming the pose for Russia/Putin as Obama’s nemesis (beyond the sedition, at least) is a much better fit.
