I’m interested in why these scenes, and this experience, of course, has created the firestorm it has. Is it the last straw in an accumulating list of consumer abuses and violations, or is it particular to airport security on steroids? And then, is there a “Don’t Tread on Me” inspired element to the backlash or is it more apolitical than that? And finally, is it ironic at all that Europeans can take to the streets over the dismantling of social benefits but here in America, the corporate state can have its way just as long as no one feels us up at the airport?
