Earth, You're Scaring Me

With Earth Day upon us, given this year of earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, and other natural disasters, does it make sense at all to acknowledge — just a little bit more, perhaps — that there is a whole lot about nature we can’t control? Or is that just too much of a blow for the Western ego?

I’m interested in how you read this, and if you associate it more to Hollywood, or the apocalypse, say, than to something that looks like: “Eyjafjallajökull”?
