Fear Factor

It’s a clever image on the newswire, showing FBI Director Meuller testifying before the House Judiciary Committee yesterday.

In discussing the possibility of transferring Gitmo detainees to U.S. prisons, Meuller raised doubts that our system could protect the public from the “Terror War” bad guys — even though hard core installations such as the Supermax prison in Colorado is already holding notorious terrorists such as Ramzi Yousef.

The obscuring of the mouth not only highlights the lack of logic surrounding what Meuller had to say. It emphasizes how, in the lingering paranoia and CYA of 9/11, straight talk comes at a premium.
