Seeing this NYT photo taken from the Obama “Freedom Train” on Saturday outside Claymont, Delaware, then reading Frank Rich’s piece this weekend, detailing the intractability of urban problems, and specifically, the well-being of the 19% of D.C.’s population — predominantly black …and invisible — living below the poverty line, I couldn’t help but think of this visual analogy.
If we’ve come so far, there still is so far to go.
