Right after I went away, I collected a few images I thought were particularly telling. Did you see this one of the ceremony in which Bush presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Gen. Tommy Franks, Paul Bremer and George Tenet for their contributions to the Iraqi campaign? What jumped out at me right away was the fact that the room has not one, but three, overly decorated Christmas trees.
Considering the disastrous performance of these three tall figures, I would say the symbolism couldn’t have been more fitting.
